What’s Not to Love About Florida?

What’s Not to Love About Florida?

When my family and I relocated from Naperville Illinois to Wellington Florida back in 2001 we honestly didn’t know what to expect. How would the weather be? Would it be too hot for us? Should we be concerned about hurricanes? Would it be filled with tourists?

What's Not to Love About Florida?

Well, all of my questions were quickly answered and any doubts I had about living in Florida were put to rest. While it can definitely get very hot I DO NOT miss the cold weather or snow. I was beyond nervous the first time a hurricane was coming at us, but as soon as it passed I was no longer afraid of them. As for the tourists, Wellington is the winter equestrian capital of the world so we do have a lot of seasonal people coming and going from October to April, but in my opinion, it doesn’t impact our area in a negative way at all and I always love seeing the horses trotting around.

Wellington is approximately 20-30 minutes away from the ocean, which is another great benefit of living in Florida. I do not consider sand my friend, yet it sticks with me for days after we go to the beach, which is my least favorite thing. However, I love the relaxation the ocean provides and could easily spend the entire day listening to and watching the waves.

Florida Vacation Destinations

Another great benefit of living in Florida is being able to go on vacation in Florida, which is one of the world’s largest vacation destinations because places like Disney World, Universal Studios, Key West, Busch Gardens, and South Beach can all be found here. Over the years we’ve gone to all of these places more than once, which are only 1-4 hours from Wellington, and while we never leave the state it always feels like we are another world away. On top of having great vacation destinations, South Florida is also known for its cruise terminals for those who want to vacation by sea.

What's Not to Love About Florida?

Did I already mention the incredible weather? Yes, we do have tropical storms and an occasional hurricane, but no matter where a person lives natural disasters are always a possibility. While there is no upside to a natural disaster at least with hurricanes we know they are coming days in advance and can prepare ahead of time, unlike an earthquake. Set that aside the weather is pretty perfect and being able to play outside the entire year is just another benefit to living in South Florida.

If you want to live in paradise Wellington Florida is the place to be and I can help you relocate here!
